The International Symposium on Ethical Debate Practices will be held at the third Madrasa (Salis Medrese) at the Sulemaniye Complex in Istanbul.
The Suleymaniye Complex (Suleymaniye Kulliyesi) was the most prestigious academic institution in the Ottoman empire, and has produced outstanding scholars, politicians, physicians, and bureaucrats who have been at the center of the world for over 500 years. They were deeply engaged with revealed and rational sciences, and spiritual practices.
Suleymaniye was operated not only with academic facilities but also with medical facilities and other community services. Suleymaniye was a world-class institution that pursued learning, a place for the treatment of people with physical and mental illness, and at the same time a haven for providing food to those suffering from poverty. And surprisingly, all of these facilities were “private facilities” and were funded by donations.
