Applicants to the Master’s Program in Argumentation and Conflict Studies are expected to meet the following requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with a minimum GPA of 2.25/4.00.
Degrees in Social Sciences and Humanities are preferred; however, applicants from other academic backgrounds with relevant experience or interests may also be considered.
- English language proficiency, demonstrated by one of the following:
- YDS / YÖKDİL: Minumum Score of 55
- TOEFL iBT: Minimum score of 66
- Ibn Haldun University Proficiency: Minumum Score of 45
- For Turkish Citizens Minumum ALES score is 70.
- Proficiency in Arabic, Turkish, or Kurdish is considered an advantage, given the regional and institutional context of the program.
- Proficiency in an additional language widely used in the MENA region will be considered an advantage.
- Relevant practical experience in debating, youth dialogue initiatives, or conflict management will be considered an advantage.
- Statement of Purpose (300 words per question). Questions should be answered in the Statement of Purpose:
- Why are you applying to this Master’s program, and how does it relate to your academic interests and career aspirations?
- What academic, research, or professional experiences have prepared you for this program?
- What strengths, skills, or perspectives would you contribute to the program and your peers?
- What are your long-term goals, and how will completing this program help you achieve them?
- Completing and submitting the Admission Application before the announced deadline.
- Providing an academic writing sample (1,000 - 2,000 words) on a relevant topic.
- Two academic or professional references, including:
- Referee’s name
- Affiliated institution
- Contact information
- Nature of the relationship with the applicant
Selected students will be invited for an online interview. And up to 15 students will be admitted to the program.
Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. Applications are evaluated holistically, taking into account academic preparation, research potential, and alignment with the program’s objectives.

The dates listed below outline the official application and registration schedule to the Master’s Program for the 2026–2027 Academic Year:
- Application Period Opens: 23 February 2026
- Application Deadline: 17 May 2026
- Announcement of Admission Results: 11 June 2026
- Issuance of Official Acceptance Letters: 13 June 2026
- Registration Period: 8 July – 17 September 2026
Applicants are advised to carefully observe the above deadlines, as late submissions will not be considered.

Scholarships & Funding
The Master’s Program in Argumentation and Conflict Studies is designed to be financially accessible to qualified students. Scholarships are provided jointly by IHU and QatarDebate.
1. Fully Funded Scholarship (up to 8 students):
- Exempted from paying the program tuition fees.
- Provided with student Accommodation
- Provided with a maximum monthly scholarship of USD 900 for the first year of study.
- Provided with a maximum monthly scholarship of USD 900 for the second year of study (merit-based and up to 4 students only).
- Provided with return air tickets for the first and second academic years (for international students only).
2. Partially Funded Scholarship:
- Exempted from paying the program tuition fees.
- Provided with a maximum monthly scholarship of 18.000 TL for 10 months of academic year (Note: The scholarship amount will change for the 2026–2027 academic year.)
- The stipend may be adjusted each semester based on the student’s performance and achievements in the previous semester
3. Case-by-Case Support:
- The admission committee may offer customized financial support packages based on individual evaluation
4. Self-Funded Students:
- Tuition fee: USD 20,800 for the full program (637,000 TL for Turkish students).
General Notes:
- All qualified students are fully sponsored to attend the Winter School in Doha during the third semester.
- Students can apply for conference attendance and publication support funds.
- Selected students will be invited to participate in the QD’s International Conference on Debate & Dialogue.
- In the second year, students will have access to additional funding opportunities, including:
- Research Assistant (RA) positions, and
- Other academic or program-related roles, subject to availability and performance.
- All students are expected to actively engage in academic research and contribute to relevant projects under the supervision of faculty members throughout their course of study.
The funding opportunities are merit-based and will be managed by a joint committee representing IHU and QatarDebate.
These financial support mechanisms are intended to support students’ academic focus and engagement throughout the program.
In case of academic failure, scholarships are subject to review and possible cancellation by the Academic Evaluation Committee, in accordance with Ibn Haldun University’s scholarship regulations.
