Rahmi Oruç

Rahmi Oruç's interests lie at the intersection of the auxiliary sciences (ʿulūm al-ālāt), argumentation theory, literary studies, and conflict research. He assists Prof. Shahid Rahman and Walter Edward Young on the RevLogRedux project, which draws on jadal, manṭiq, and munāẓara to advance theoretical understanding and practical applications in machine learning and machine reasoning. He is a QatarDebate Fellow and a member of the ICDD's scientific committee. Rather than working within any single tradition, he reads Western and non-Western theories critically against one another for سلام, εὐδαιμονία, and .

 

Önder Küçükural

Dr. Önder Küçükural contributes to interdisciplinary research on argumentation, reasoning, discourse, and social life. His academic work explores how individuals and communities construct, justify, and negotiate beliefs and values within different social and political contexts. His research particularly focuses on forms of argumentation and reasoning, the sociology of religion, political theory, discourse analysis, and gender studies. Through his work at the ArguMunazara Research Center at Ibn Haldun University, he contributes to the study of dialogue, debate, and deliberation from both theoretical and empirical perspectives, with a special interest in pluralism, civic engagement, and the role of reasoning in addressing social and political differences. 

Heba Ezzat

Dr. Heba Ezzat is a distinguished Egyptian scholar specializing in political thought, Islamic intellectual traditions, and civilizational studies. Her academic work explores the intersections of politics, ethics, identity, and public discourse, with a particular focus on contemporary Muslim societies. Through her interdisciplinary approach, she contributes to advancing critical engagement with dialogue, governance, and conflict in both regional and global contexts. 

Karim Sadek

Doha Institute for Graduate Studies

Dr. Karim Sadek is Assistant Professor of Philosophy at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies. His research lies at the intersection of critical social theory, Islamic political thought, democratic theory, and the ethics of argumentation. Before joining the Doha Institute, he held research and teaching positions at the American University of Beirut, the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, Boğaziçi University, Ibn Haldun University, Freie Universität Berlin, University College Dublin, and Marmara University. He is a QatarDebate Fellow, where he is developing a project titled Munazara and Non-Authoritarian Argumentation.

Ali Al-Zawqari

Ali is an electrical engineer and machine-learning researcher with a multidisciplinary profile spanning engineering, education, and artificial intelligence. His work focuses on data-driven modelling, interpretable machine learning, and generative AI, always developed in close connection with real application domains. He is an Academic and Teaching Staff at Vrije Universiteit Brussel and QatarDebate Research Fellow. In this domain, his work explores how emerging technologies and computational models can contribute to the argument mining in general, and specifically in competitive debates.

Khalid Alkhatib

University of Groningen

Dr. Khalid Al-Khatib specializes in artificial intelligence, computational linguistics, and computational argumentation with a focus on the analysis of online discourse and argumentative communication. As a QatarDebate Research Fellow and faculty member in Computational Linguistics and Society at the University of Groningen, his work contributes to understanding how digital technologies can support the study of argumentation, dialogue, and public communication. His research provides valuable insights into the role of technology in contemporary debates and conflict analysis. 

Salman Ali

Dr. Salman Ali specializes in critical thinking, reasoning, contemporary debate practices, Islamic theology, and the methodologies of classical Qur’anic interpreters. He has extensive experience in debate education and training, and has actively participated in a series of public debates and intellectual discussions on Islamic theology and contemporary theological issues.

Through his work at QatarDebate Center, he contributes to advancing debate pedagogy and fostering analytical, communication, and critical inquiry skills, bridging theoretical foundations with practical applications in debate, Qur’anic studies, and Islamic thought.

Muhammad Abdur Rehman

Abdur Rehman specializes in debate education, critical thinking, and communication skills development. Through his work at QatarDebate Center, he has contributed to the design and delivery of debate training programs and educational initiatives aimed at strengthening argumentation, public speaking, and analytical reasoning skills. His experience combines practical debate engagement with educational facilitation in diverse learning environments.
